James Carroll’s “Christ Actually: The Son of God for the Secular Age”

Listen

Guest: James Carroll

“What is bothering me incessantly is the question—Who Christ actually is for us today?” wrote Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor and theologian while being held by the Nazis during World War II. Author JAMES CARROLL uses this question as the basis for his new book Christ Actually: The Son of God for the Secular Age. He argues that it’s essential that Christ be viewed, first and foremost, as a Jew. His Jewish identity, Carroll asserts, has been forgotten by modern Christians, due in large part to post-Holocaust Christianity. In this hour of Radio Times, we hear from him about his new book, perceptions of Jesus Christ, and his long writing career.
