Indictments, quid pro quo, and the Feds – then, Thomas Frank’s “Listen, Liberal”
Listen 00:48:45Guests: Tom Ferrick, William Brennan, Thomas Frank
Last week, Pennsylvania State Senator Larry Farnese was indicted by the federal government on charges of bribery, continuing the perception that the majority of political leaders, from City Hall to the Statehouse, are corrupt. It seems that every week a Pa. elected official is in the headlines for allegedly unsavory behavior, particularly in regards to cash and gifts. Today on Radio Times, we’ll talk about campaign donations, campaign spending, bribery, and lobbying in municipal and state politics. We’re joined this hour by independent journalist TOM FERRICK, and local attorney WILLIAM J. BRENNAN who will give us their thoughts on corruption in politics and the role of the feds in investigating and prosecuting local leaders. Then, producer Jon Ehrens talks with writer THOMAS FRANK about his new book, Listen, Liberal.
