Garbology: a look at America’s trash habit
ListenAmericans make a lot of trash, more than any other country in the world. In fact, each of us produces around 7.1 pounds of garbage a day, or roughly 102 tons in a lifetime. And trash turns out to be America’s top export; we ship a lot of it to China every year. Pulitzer Prize-winning writer EDWARD HUMES has written a new book examining all this waste called “Garbology: Our Dirty Love Affair with Trash.” In it he visits landfills the size of mountains, power plants that run on rubbish and leading researchers who are trying to tackle all our garbage. Marty and Humes talk trash on this hour of Radio Times.
