Center City’s Reading Viaduct project
ListenGuests: Paul Levy, Leah Murphy and Nathaniel Popkin
Philadelphia’s proposed Reading Viaduct, a century-old abandoned railway line that runs through Center City – from Vine Street northeast to Fairmount Avenue — is one step closer to reality. Inspired by New York’s High Line, but distinctively Philadelphia in concept and design, construction of the first quarter mile stretch, complete with an elevated park, could begin next year. We’ll talk about the vision, the plans, the challenges, and the economic benefits of the Reading Viaduct project with PAUL LEVY, of the Center City District, LEAH MURPHY, president of Friends of the Rail Park, and writer NATHANIEL POPKIN.
