Boost Truth
Boost Truth is a WHYY public service campaign with a goal of amplifying facts and expertise about the COVID-19 vaccine through events, information sharing, and community organizing. By partnering with our News and Information Community Exchange (N.I.C.E.) – a mutual-aid journalism collaborative made up of grassroots content creators – WHYY will actively combat misinformation and disinformation while providing communities the resources to do the same.
Boost Truth Events
Across the city of Philadelphia, N.I.C.E. partners will host events – such as town halls and forums, as well as showcases, health fairs and parties – that offer the public free, quality programming and access to expertise and resources.
Schedule
Firehouse Active Adult Center
When: October 5, @ 9:30 AM
In collaboration with the Firehouse Active Adult Center, SOWN will hold an hour-long open discussion around COVID-19 to give older adults a chance to express their feelings about the pandemic now that we are two and a half years in. Do older adults still feel nervous to go out in the world? Are they sick of it? How do they feel the virus affects their day-to-day life? Attendees will receive psychoeducation on traumatic stress, social isolation, depression, anxiety, and decision-making fatigue from SOWN’s LCSWs. This interactive conversation will engage attendees in a group letter-writing exercise to offer advice to younger generations who continue to struggle with the effects of the pandemic. Attendees will also access information on infection control, testing, and vaccination.
