Woman found in car trunk was Philadelphia resident

A woman found dead last weekend inside the trunk of a vehicle parked a southern New Jersey hotel has been identified as a Philadelphia resident.

But Burlington County authorities would not say Friday how, when or where 38-year-old Maria Santiago may have been killed, citing the ongoing investigation.

Santiago’s body was found inside her vehicle Sunday night in Maple Shade. The discovery came after Santiago’s mother reported her missing.

Authorities have said the woman’s vehicle was tracked through the OnStar system.

Santiago’s live-in boyfriend, 41-year-old Jesus Garcia, was charged Monday with concealment of human remains. His bail was set at $200,000, and it wasn’t known Friday if he has retained an attorney.
