Williams to face former colleague in bid for re-election as Philly DA

A former co-worker says he’ll run in the Democratic primary against Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams.

 

Joe Khan, a former assistant prosecutor in the office along with Williams, told Philly.com he’s running because Williams has “lost his way.”

Khan said he wants to restore integrity to the office, which has been called into question by a federal investigation of Williams’ personal and political finances.

Williams hasn’t been charged with any crimes and his campaign spokesman, Dan Fee, said integrity remains central to Williams’ run for a third four-year term.

Khan most recently worked as an assistant federal prosecutor in Philadelphia, targeting government corruption that has resulted in convictions of officials in Reading and Allentown.

He resigned from that job to run against Williams.
