Turrell Skyspace hosts its first-ever musical performance [gallery]

On Friday night, Boston’s award-winning Arneis String Quartet came to Chestnut Hill to perform the first-ever concert in the James Turrell Skyspace.

The quartet, which was joined by mezzosoprano Christina English, performed music from “five of Philadelphia’s most sought-after young composers … [as] the room transformed by the sunset,” according to the Skyspace at Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting.

Starting this week, the Skyspace will host Sunday sunsets and Thursday sunrises. Come May 1, it will add Thursday sunsets to that schedule. For more information, visit the Skyspace’s reservations page.
