Traffic detours, lane closures for Parkway project begin Monday

Motorists traveling along the Garden State Parkway can expect lane closures and detours beginning Monday as work on the $125 million project to eliminate the route’s three traffic lights begins.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, work will begin at 7 p.m. Monday on the northbound lanes between Shell Bay Avenue and Stone Harbor Boulevard when traffic will be reduced to one lane. Both lanes will be closed during overnight hours, from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m, when all traffic will be diverted to Route 9.

The project will then move to Crest Haven Road, before switching to the southbound lanes. Work is expected between Mondays and Thursdays, with no traffic changes Friday through Sunday.
