New Jersey State Police say the driver of a car that crashed on Interstate 95 near Route 1 has been charged with two counts of death by auto and one count of assault by auto.

Police say a third passenger has died in the crash and that charges could be upgraded further. Police say 19-year-old Luis Delcid-Cardona fled on foot from the scene in Lawrence Township around 1 a.m. this morning and was arrested at his home in Hamilton.

The three died when the car they were riding slammed into a parked tractor-trailer. The two young women were unrestrained in the back seat. Investigators say Nicole Rodrogues, 20 of from Yardville, N.J. was partially ejected from the car and Samantha Belliveau, 18, of Hamilton, N.J. was thrown from the vehicle. The name of the male victim has not been released.
