The final month: Scenes from Germantown High School’s last-ever prom
With all due respect to Donna Summer, what happened on Friday night inside the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing was the truest representation of the phrase “last dance” imaginable.
For it was there that Germantown High School students gathered for the last prom in the 99-year-old school’s history.
Next month, the school will close. But on this night, they celebrated, danced and watched Coshae Torrence and Jerry Betts get crowned Prom Queen and King, respectively.
NewsWorks was there, at the hotel along the Delaware River, to capture the memorable event in photos.
If you have pictures from before or during the last GHS prom, please add them to the gallery for posterity’s sake.
As the final day of Germantown High School’s 99-year history approaches — the Class of ’13 will don caps and gowns on June 19 — NewsWorks will present a series of stories including interviews with grads and former students.
