While the school itself won’t close its doors until Friday, today marks a symbolic finish line in the 99-year history of Germantown High, as the Class of 2013 will be the last to ever graduate from the school.

When the start of the 2013-14 school year commences, GHS students will go to their first day of classes at Martin Luther King, Roxborough or another high-school campus to continue their education.

The 10 a.m. commencement ceremony at New Covenant Church of Philadelphia, 7500 Germantown Ave., is sure to be an emotional affair.

NewsWorks will be on hand to cover it for the web and Wednesday’s NewsWorks Tonight radio broadcast (6 p.m., 90.9 FM).
