A teenager is in stable condition after he was shot on the way to school in Wilmington Monday morning.

Wilmington Police say officers responded to 27th and Van Buren streets around 6:45 a.m. after receiving several calls from local neighbors reporting gun shots.

Police say the 15-year-old, a 9th grader at Wilmington’s John Dickinson High School, ran to a passing school bus a couple blocks away and flagged down the driver, who cared for him on the bus until police arrived.

Police do not know the motive of the shooting, and arrests have not been made.
