Subway’s Chelten Plaza location expected to open this week

A new Subway restaurant is scheduled to open this week inside Chelten Plaza in Germantown.

Pat Burns, the developer behind the shopping center at Chelten and Pulaski avenues, said Monday that he did not have a definitive date for the sandwich shop’s first day of business, but spoke highly of the national-chain tenant.

“They have a great product. They have a great name,” he said.

The eatery, Philadelphia’s 49th Subway location, will be located next to Citibank facing Pulaski Avenue.

Chelten Plaza, which was the source of neighborhood controversy in its planning stages, is also home to Anna’s Linens, a Deal$ variety store, Wired Beans Cafe and a Save-A-Lot grocery store. Several vacancies remain.
