Students get second prom after power outage ended first one

The second prom was the charm for some southern New Jersey students whose first event was disrupted by a power outage last month.

NJ.com reports the Winslow Township High School students were given a “do over” prom at the Villa Winslow Manor on Friday night, and no problems were reported. The owner of the banquet venue hosted the prom free of charge and provided them with refreshments.

The teens’ first prom was held last month at a facility in Voorhees.

Parents say the power went out for about half the time the students were in the building and they had to sit without music or lights for about two hours before being sent home at around 9 p.m. The event had been scheduled to end at 11:30 p.m.
