Rocket redo: Wallops launch rescheduled tonight

Last night’s scheduled launch from NASA’s Wallops Island facility has been rescheduled for tonight.

 

The NASA mission to deliver supplies to the International Space Station was scrubbed last night after a boat was discovered in the waters that the rocket would have flown over after launch. There was only a ten minute window for the launch and when the water was cleared in time, the launch was cancelled.

The Cygnus spacecraft is now set to launch Tuesday night at 6:22. The weather looks good for viewing the launch from Delaware, New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania. Viewers should look to the southern sky about two or three minutes after the scheduled launch.

The unmanned cargo ship is loaded with supplies for ISS. Those supplies include almost 5,000 pounds of science and research projects, crew supplies, vehicle hardware and spacewalk tools. The ship is attached to an Antares rocket that is scheduled to launch into low-Earth orbit on Monday night.

The ship is expected to dock with the space station on Nov. 2.
