Police seek armed suspect in Germantown robbery

Police are looking for a suspect who robbed Ace Check Cashing in southwest Germantown on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9:15 a.m.

 

An unknown male wearing a dark colored puffy jacket and a purple hooded-sweatshirt entered the Ace Check Cashing located at 5045 North Wayne Ave. Once inside the suspect approached the glass booth pointing a handgun at an employee.

He demanded that the door be opened to allow access behind the counter. After the employee hit the silent robbery alarm she hid inside the bathroom until police arrived. At that time, the suspect fled on foot and was last seen on Wayne Avenue towards Manheim Street. Nothing was taken during this incident.

The suspect is described as a black male with a stocky build and a dark complextion. He has a beard with a mustache and is between 40 and 50 years-of-age. He was last seen wearing a black hooded puffy coat, a purple hooded sweatshirt, a blue baseball cap with white on the front and black/white sneakers.

If you see this suspect do not approach him, contact 911 immediately.
