Philadelphia recycling trucks dazzle with colors

    The city of Philadelphia is using some local children and an artist to give its recycling trucks a unique paint job. Artist Desiree Bender designed the unique wrapping for 10 new city recycling trucks.
    She says working with school students and the trucks’ drivers helped her come up with ideas for the unique canvas.

    22TMMOOREShe says working with school students and the trucks’ drivers helped her come up with ideas for the unique canvas, “I think the very first thought that I had was how the kids could be involved and then from there it was thinking what makes sense on a recycling what celebrates nature, and then how is it going to wrap around the front end and what’s the scale going to be like.”

    The result is a collage of images from the children and the drivers coupled with drawings from Desiree.  They show the wonders of nature and historical patterns.  There are now 20 wrapped recycling trucks since ten were done last year.
