Officials consider possible shutdown at The Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station

Crews have begun to reduce power at The Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station in Lacey Township, New Jersey.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the reduction has begun at the 42-year-old plant in response to weather conditions from Hurricane Irene.

Crews at the power plant may not need to shut it down – they say they are monitoring the weather throughout the day, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
