Newport, Del. becomes more energy-efficient with new solar panels

Newport is making strides toward becoming more energy-efficient.  A solar power installation at the town hall is being dedicated today.

Members of Delaware’s congressional delegation, Governor Jack Markell and Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources Collin O’Mara are among those taking part in the dedication.  The improvements in Newport were funded by the Delaware Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, which in turn was made possible through the federal economic stimulus program.  The ceremony follows a ribbon-cutting at the Belvedere Fire Company near Newport, which also recently installed a solar power system.
