New Commander at Dover AFB

Albeit delayed because of the snow, today’s Change of Command Ceremony at Dover Air Force Base went on as scheduled.

This morning Colonel Mark Camerer assumed command of the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.

Camerer (pronounced Cammer) comes to Dover from the 3rd Wing at Elmendorf AFB , Alaska, where he served for the past year and half as Vice Commander.

And while Camerer, wife Julie & their two sons love Alaska, the Colonel wants Delawareans to know they’re excited to call the First State home.

“We have a great partnership with the community and I look forward to continuing that partnership while we’re here in Delaware.”

As the senior officer on base, Camerer says a big part of his job is to offer guidance to lower level commanders and to make sure they put those lessons into practice.

“I want ’em to know that I’m committed to this job, that I’m dedicated to be the Commander of the 436th and that I’m proud of ’em. They’ve got a legacy of honor, a fine tradition and I’m just honored to be a part of that.”

Camerer takes the reigns from Colonel Manson Morris.

Morris will now serve as Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition Technology and Logistics at the Pentagon.
