Holiday treat for area beer lovers as Foodery Roxborough nears opening

12/18 update: The owners of the Foodery Roxborough say the store will open on Thursday, Dec. 27.

On Dec. 12,, Monica and Jack Lee were waiting anxiously inside the Foodery’s third location, at 6148 Ridge Ave., as an inspector for the state Liquor Control Board performed a final inspection. If they pass as hoped, the Lees said the Foodery could be stocked and open this month.

Their city food preparation license is also in place, and the new Foodery will include sandwiches and small foods in addition to the roughly 800 beers they’ll stock in the cavernous space. [Food license here]

It’s been over a year since the Central Roxborough Civic Association gave its support of the Foodery’s plan, and while work seemed to progress slowly inside, the former RDC offices now feature warm wood and stone accents, with open cases and a long row of coolers.

If all goes well, Foodery Roxborough should be open in time for those Christmas parties, Jack Lee said.

Other Foodery locations are at 324 S. 10th St. and 837 N. 2nd St.
