Runners tackle inaugural “Hills of Manayunk” scavenger hunt

Bryn Mawr Running Company on Main Street hosted its first annual scavenger hunt in Manayunk this weekend.

Sean McCloskey and Charles Olivia of Lavahound, a company that created an app for putting together and playing custom scavenger hunts on the iPhone, were on hand to help facilitate the “Hills of Manayunk” event. The two Lavahound representatives created an app for the teams to use as guides or maps to navigate through the neighborhood.

The groups spent 90-minutes running up and down the hills of Manayunk looking for neighborhood specific items such as the pretzel statue in Pretzel Park and an outdoor staircase. With 140 points, the team “Birds” came in first place, trailed by “Visually Impaired” in second place and “BFB” in third place. The winning teams received discounts on socks, sneakers and t-shirts at the Main Street store.
