Google’s plan to buy Motorola Mobility includes Horsham offices
Google has plans for a major acquisition–the largest in its history.
The Internet giant intends to purchase Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in cash.
“They will acquire both the mobile devices and home businesses that make up Motorola Mobility,” said Becki Leonard, spokeswoman for Motorola.
She said Motorola is excited about the acquisition, one that’s based largely in Montgomery County.
“Horsham is one of our largest offices and it is the headquarters for our home business,” said Leonard. “So our cable, set-top box–that aspect of our business.”
The Horsham offices account for 30 percent of Motorola’s annual sales.
Leonard says that while Google will be working closely with Motorola executives in Horsham, she says Google and the Motorola operation will remain separate.
The deal is set to close late this year or early next.
