Goldey-Beacom student charged with rape

A grad student at Goldey-Beacom College faces rape charges after an incident in his room involving an 18-year-old fellow student.Delaware State Police say 23-year-old Carlos Bastardo is accused of second degree rape in his on campus room at Jay Miller Hall in Wilmington.  The incident involving an 18-year-old female student allegedly happened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police say the 18-year-old, who is an acquaintance of Bastardo, arrived at his apartment apartment in the early morning hours Sunday.  That’s when he’s accused of making unwanted sexual advances and eventually sexually assaulting the woman.

She fled the apartment and went to the hospital for treatment.  State Police were then contacted and arrested Bastardo on the Goldey-Beacom campus.  He’s being held on $120,000 cash bond.
