Former Conshohocken cop admits to stealing from parking meters
A former police officer in Conshohocken has pleaded guilty to stealing from parking meters during patrols in which he was supposed to be helping Parking Enforcement officers.
Anthony James Santoro, 47, pleaded guilty today to the misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking. He’ll get two years’ probation for the 2010 crimes.
The Delaware County Daily Times reports Santoro was caught after the police chief became suspicious of Santoro last summer and began watching is actions during meter collections. Santoro was taking the money from the meters to help catch up on personal bills.
As part of his indefinite suspenstion, Santoro had his borough health insurance benefits removed and cannot seek early retirement benefits during the suspension.
