Fire Chief: Fines against Revel owner set to start

Atlantic City’s acting fire chief says the owner of the former Revel Casino Hotel is set to receive its first fine for not having competent engineers oversee the property’s alarms and emergency equipment.
Acting Fire Chief Scott Evans tells The Press of Atlantic City that Polo North Country Club, led by investor Glenn Straub, never responded to a violation notice issued last week. The company will receive its first fine Wednesday.
Evans says the company now faces daily fines of $1,000.
The city says Revel’s fire-command center was left without a qualified operator after Straub decided last week to stop employing nine union engineers at the property.
Straub said last week he’s bringing in outside contractors to man the center. He couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday.
