Ethan Allen teacher charged with theft

Kathleen Kremis, a now-former Ethan Allen teacher charged with stealing laptops from the Mayfair school, was revealed this week to be a heroin addict.

Kremis, 35, stole 42 laptops from the school and sold them to a pawnshop in Kensington. The pawnshop owner turned her into police when he noticed the School District of Philadelphia seal on the devices.

Kremis and her former husband, Thomas Perry, 37, were arrested Tuesday, and all the computers have been recovered. The couple received about $5,000 for the computers, which authorities believe was used to fund Kremis’ drug habit.
