Eastern Pennsylvania diocese to allow some masses at closed churces

The Associated Press reports the Diocese of Allentown has announced some masses will be allowed at six closed churches.

According to the Associated Press, the announcement came on Friday, and would include funeral masses for former parishioners as well as a mass on the patronal feast of each church.

The AP says the diocese issued a statement, saying it is complying with the Vatican’s order that it “retain the canonical status” of the churches but that the six parishes “remain suppressed.”
