Driver fleeing from police killed in Wilmington crash

A Newark teen was killed when his car crashed into a school bus in downtown Wilmington.

Wilmington Police say the 18-year-old driver had been driving erratically along Market St. around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. Police officers tried to stop the driver, but he sped off. They started a pursuit which ended when the fleeing car crossed the median on 12th St. and crashed into a school bus in the 800-block of Delaware Avenue.

The 18-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus is in stable condition after suffering injuries to his right leg. No children were on the bus at the time.
