Design plans for Manayunk bridge trail due by late 2012

A design for the Manayunk bridge trail must be complete by late next year. That’s a stipulation that comes with the contract awarded to Whitman, Requart & Associates.

In order to use a $1.3 million PennDOT grant, plans for the pedestrian park and path must be ready by late 2012.
As Amy Quinn reports for NewsWorks, community meetings will be held to discuss ideas for the bridge, which crosses the Schuylkill River, Schuylkill Expressway, Main Street and the Norfolk Southern freight train lines. Philadelphia and Lower Merion are working with SEPTA, which owns the bridge, to bring the plan to fruition.
