Crowdfunded classrooms: Teachers increasingly solicit online

Teachers who have been turning to online crowdfunding to assure they have the classroom supplies they want are finding a public eager to give.

Education donations have been surging on GoFundMe and DonorsChoose, and the crowdfunding sites see no end in the trend.

Teachers say raised money is in addition to the $100 or more they often pull from their paychecks to supplement school funding.

The online fundraising campaigns connect teachers and donors to supply quick money when traditional funding sources are not an option.
