Coons joins 12 other senators for ‘it gets better’ video

U.S. Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware joined a dozen other senators this morning in support of gay marriage. Coons was at the capitol with Sens. Mark Udall (D-Col.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) to debut their “It gets Better” video for LGBT youth.

Also featured in the nearly five-minute video are Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.).

“The video is an appeal to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people to not give up, reassuring them that the Senators are working hard to fulfill the promise of equality for all,” reads a joint statement from Coons, Udall, Wyden and Blumenthal.

The video is one of many from celebrities and politicians as part of the “It gets Better” message for LGBT youth.
