Cold, blustery Wednesday: Frequent gusts over 40 mph; record lows possible at night

As yet another round of wintry precipitation ends overnight, gusty winds and winter-like temperatures will ensure a blustery Wednesday.

According to the latest forecast discussion from the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, NJ, meteorologists expect “frequent gusts to around 40 mph across a better portion of the region during the day.”

When accounting for high temperatures only reaching the mid-30s, wind chill values will be in the low- to mid-20s, forecasters say.

It gets colder from there. 

At night, high pressure will move in from the west, skies will clear, and winds will decrease, resulting in possibly record low temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

But the brutal cold is short-lived. 

A warm-up begins Thursday afternoon, then temperatures are back to the 50s on Friday.
