Casey urging continued fight against GOP health care plan

The debate over proposed Republican changes to health care in the United States made its way to Philadelphia’s City Hall.
Lisa Wallace Larkin, the mother of a special-needs child, said without Medicaid, her son would not receive the services he needs.
“We need to stop being reactive, we need to be proactive and keep the funding in place now, so that we’re not paying for it five, 10, 15, 20 years down the road,” said Larkin of Philadelphia.
U.S. Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania said the health care overhaul pending in Congress is about making the rich richer while cutting services to the poor.
“Fill in the blank with whatever words you want, this bill in the Senate is worse that that bad House bill,” he said. “And we’ve got to stop it.”
It will be days or weeks before the Senate legislation comes up for a vote, Casey said, urging opponents of repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act to continue the fight.
