Campground being set up for papal pilgrims in Fairmount Park
ListenIf you want a place to stay the night and are all right with roughing it, there is an alternative in Philadelphia during the papal visit.
It’s being called Francis Fields, a campground in a section of Philadelphia’s East Fairmount Park. Campground event director Carl Monzo says it’s a good location.
“We are about two miles from the actual event itself, try to alleviate traffic problems it’s an easy walk from the campgrounds to Eakins Oval and Independence Mall,” Monzo said.
Monzo says the campground is outside the security perimeter being set up in Center City and campers will have access throughout the weekend.
