Burlington Township teenager’s death ruled a suicide

More than two months after a Burlington Township teenager’s body was pulled from a pond, autopsy and toxicology results have been made available through an Open Public Records Act request by the Times of Trenton.

Sarah Townsend, 18, was missing for five days before her body was found in a pond not far from where she abandoned her car. Reports indicate her cause of death was suicide by drowning, and that she had “significant levels of cocaine in her system” at the time, as the Times reports.

County officials say Townsend left a suicide note, despite earlier reports that indicated no clues to her disappearance had been left behind.
