Authorities have confirmed that a body was found on a beach in northern Monmouth County on Sunday.

Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Charles Webster told NJ.com that the body was discovered shortly before 3:30 p.m. near Anchorage Beach in Sea Bright.

The report says the prosecutor’s office is working to identify the person’s identity and cause of death.

Sources told Word on the Shore, a northern coastal Monmouth County news outlet, that the body is of an African-American woman.
