Fewer passengers are using Atlantic City International Airport.

The South Jersey Transportation Authority says nearly 495,000 passengers used the airport in Egg Harbor Township during the first six months of the year. That compares to nearly 662,000 during the same period in 2012.

Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Misty Pinson tells The Press of Atlantic City the airport’s sole carrier has cut flights to Atlantic City because the demand isn’t there.

Pinson says Spirit began to see fewer people looking for flights to Atlantic City after Superstorm Sandy.
