Arrest of Newark, Del. ice rink owner prompts forum

Following last week’s arrest of Scott Bicking, Newark Police is hosting a community forum tonight to address questions and concerns families may have about the investigation.

Bicking, 47, turned himself into police on Friday. He’s charged with inappropriately touching two teenage boys at The Pond ice arena. The New Jersey man owns the pro shop at the rink and is also part owner of the facility.

Newark Police hope the forum will give parents a chance to ask questions raised by the investigation as well as offer tools and techniques on how to speak to children about the incident. The information session will take place inside the Newark High School Auditorium from 7 to 9 p.m.

Representatives from the Newark Police, Dept. of Justice, the Child Advocacy Center of Delaware, and the Delaware Ducks ice hockey organization will be on hand to field questions. Additionally, victim service providers will be available to provide crisis counseling, and resource referral.
