Arrest in connection with body found on Delaware playground

Wilmington Police charged a man with murder following the discovery of his girlfriend’s body on playground equipment in a city park.
The body of 29-year-old Jamie Murphy was found on a slide at Canby Park in Wilmington around 10:30 Thursday morning. Within hours, her boyfriend, 34-year-old Gary Perkins was determined a suspect. Police say the couple had previous violent encounters.
Perkins was located in the area of 10th and King St. in downtown Wilmington around 5:30 Thursday afternoon. He was arrested without incident.
Perkins has been charged with first degree murder.
