American Red Cross assists victims after devastating tornadoes hit Missouri

The Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Red Cross is responding to the devastating tornadoes that affected the Midwest this weekend. Two people from the area will assess the damage.

Director of Communications Dave Schrader is heading down to Joplin, Mo., where he will assist as part of the American Red Cross Advanced Public Affairs Team, and Susan Halfond of Montgomery County will help resident there with their mental health needs. A representative in Joplin says 75 percent of the town is “virtually gone.”

Local Red Cross volunteers have already gone to Alabama and Mississippi to provide assistance.
