On Sunday night, a packed room at Roxborough’s Mishkan Shalom Synagogue lauded the accomplishments of feminist icon Gloria Steinem and Rabbi Arthur Waskow at a gala celebration titled “This is What 80 Looks Like.”

The event’s name came from the fact that both honorees are approaching their 80th birthdays.

The spirit of the celebration was honoring the pair for dedicating their lives to equality and peace, and continuing to inspire others.

The night included two ticketed events: A dinner was followed by a program filled with songs of faith and spirited speeches presented by fellow Rabbis and friends of both.

During the program, psychologist Dan Gottlieb, the award-winning host of WHYY-FM’s “Voices in the Family,” interviewed the pair.
