Turkey after the failed coup

Some 290 people died and tens of thousands have been arrested or detained in the failed July 15^th coup against Turkey’s President Erdogan.  These included soldiers, police, public sector workers, teachers, academics and journalists.  Turkish authorities say that the coup was orchestrated by the United States government and Fetullah Gulen, a Turkish cleric living in exile in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains.  This hour, we’ll discuss Turkey after the attempted coup and look at the reclusive cleric Gulen, who he is, his following and his influence.  Marty’s guests are TIM ARANGO, reporter for The New York Times, STEVEN COOK, Eni Enrico Mattei Senior Fellow for Middle East and Africa Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, and JOSHUA HENDRICK, author of Gülen: The Ambiguous Politics of Market Islam in Turkey and the World.
