The Clutter in Our Lives

Listen 00:49:16

Guests: Dominique Browning, Randy Frost, Linda Samuels

A myriad of lifestyle books, magazines and experts insist we de-clutter.  But our homes and lives attest to our love of stuff.  We surround ourselves with belongings, unable to let go of trinkets and paraphernalia.  In extreme forms, this behavior may harm our health.  A recent study from St Lawrence University in New York found hoarding could impact sleep and brain function.  We speak to writer and blogger DOMINIQUE BROWNING, author of Slow Love, who says we should celebrate our clutter.  Also, RANDY FROST, professor of psychology at Smith College and author of Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things, and LINDA SAMUELS, professional organizer, President of the Institute for Challenging Disorganization and author of The Other Side of Organized.
