Jovan Weaver had a story to tell.

But he didn’t tell us all of it.

Last month, news emerged that Jovan was charged with vehicular homicide and evidence tampering in a hit-and-run that happened in December 2017.  Anthony Rodgers, 58, was killed in the incident. Soon after, Jovan signed a statement of responsibility.  This occurred several months before our last interview with Jovan for the second season of Schooled, which was released April 2018.

Jovan has resigned as principal at Mastery Charter’s John Wister Elementary, and is currently free on bail. In mid-June, he waived the preliminary hearing in his criminal case. A pre-trial conference between prosecutors and the defense is scheduled for July 25.

In this special episode of the podcast we unpack the details of the case and its larger implications. We hear from members of the victim’s family and dig through our interviews with Jovan before and after the hit-and-run.
