Rating doctors, hospitals and health plans
Last week, the federal governments ran ads in newspapers across the country which rated hospitals on two measures of quality of care. The government website is just one of a growing number of tools patients have to rate the quality of their health plans, doctors and hospitals. We talk with RACHEL WERNER, Penn professor of medicine, and JENNIFER SWEENEY of the National Partnership for Women and Families, about the proliferation of ratings, who uses them and how, and the improvements that can be made to benefit health consumers.
