PTSD: A Mafia mole & NBA ref blows whistle on recovery

Listen

Hour 1

BOB DELANEY’s life has already brought him deep inside worlds most of us can only dream about. In his first act, he spent three years infiltrating the Mafia as a young New Jersey state trooper. Then he spent 25 years running up and down professional basketball courts as a referee in the NBA. And now he’s pursuing a passion that traces back to his first, undercover life: helping shine a spotlight on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and work being done to help sufferers recover and thrive in its wake. Delaney credits former FBI director Louis Freeh introducing him to famed Mafia mole Donnie Brasco with helping him deal with his own PTSD. That story and more are part of Delaney’s new book, Surviving the Shadows: A Journey of Hope into Post-Traumatic Stress.
