Philly gun violence, Pt. 4: Moving toward solutions
ListenHour 1
To close out Radio Times’ series on gun violence in Philadelphia this summer (links to Part 1: Responding to Gun Violence in Philadelphia & Wilmington; Part 2: Victims & City’s Perspective; and Part 3: Youth Perspectives), we welcome two leaders working toward solutions in hospital-based violence-reduction programs. MARLA DAVIS BELLAMY, JD, MGA, director of Philadelphia CeaseFire and the Center for Bioethics, Urban Health and Policy at Temple Medical School, leads a program combining analysis of public health statistics with active intervention from community members targeting people and places most at-risk for gun violence. And TED CORBIN, MD, MPP, is an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Drexel University College of Medicine and is medical director of the “Healing Hurt People” program, an emergency department based trauma-informed intervention strategy that identifies victims of intentional injury.
