My backyard jungle: James Barilla

Listen

Guest: James Barilla

JAMES BARILLA and his family wanted to do their part to conserve nature so they turned their backyard in Columbia, South Carolina into a certified wildlife habitat and the critters came, some more welcome than others. Barilla chronicles their wilderness adventure in his new book “My Backyard Jungle.” He also traveled to cities in India, Brazil, and United States to explore the complicated co-existence of human and wild species like bears, monkeys, marmosets, toucans and honeybees. Barilla teaches creative nonfiction and environmental writing at University of South Carolina and he’s our guest on Radio Times.
